The Problem: Keeping track of communities and individuals is challenging.

Atris, formerly known as Comet, is a seed-stage startup in San Francisco focused on helping people foster knowledge within their communities and themselves. After they secured over $3 million from Venture Capital firms like Soma Capital and angels like Balaji Srinivasan, I joined as the first official hire and Product Design lead.

I drove teams of 3+ engineers to navigate the new ambiguous landscape of AI right around when OpenAI's was releasing their ChatGPT APIs.

As the design lead, I drove the development of several products:

- Atris, an AI-powered chatbot platform and community
- RoloPal, an AI-powered relationship manager

While RoloPal remained in the prototype stage, Atris showed immense promise and received glowing feedback during initial testing.

RoloPal

The Solution: Rolopal

Rolopal was a project that I drove, designed, and prototyped for Atris.

It is an iOS-based relationship manager that leveraged Generative AI to help users keep track of all of your relationships in several ways:

- It helped users transform messy notes about their contacts into a structured readable format

- It also leveraged AI to help provide users with suggestions on how to keep in touch with their relationships

In addition to designing and developing the app, I also designed the logo, branding, and landing page!

Quick Notes

The core feature of Rolopal is the ability to add Quick notes. After meeting with or even remembering a relationship, the user could easily tap on "New Note," select who they want to write the note for, and quickly jot down whatever they wanted to remember about their contact.

AI would then automagically edit structure the thoughts for the contact.

Friendly Suggestions

Once a user starts having notes, users then then talk to Rolopal to find ideas on how to better maintain their relationships with their contacts.

In addition to AI chat, the app also provides useful suggestions for things to ask the AI, such as having it come up with Birthday Gift Ideas and Greeting Messages.

Next Steps & Results

After designing the mobile flows as well as a desktop version of Rolopal, I worked with ChatGPT to prototype an MVP version of the app.

Within a week I was able to use SwiftUI and Vercel's Javascript serverless functions to build a working MVP of the app, complete with the ability to add and edit notes about any of your contacts as well as the AI organizing and AI suggestion features.

We used this prototype to validate the idea by circulating it amongst the team's inner circles.

While the app had a lot of promising ideas with regards to relationships and AI, as a team we felt there was an opportunity to do something more explicitly social with Generative AI, which lead us to our next project.

After Rolopal, I worked with the Atris team to launch the flagship Atris AI product.

Atris is a chatbot community where user can use or create their own custom chatbots and then share them on the Atris marketplace.

These custom support group chats out of the gate to especially encourage a social experience. They also come with extra knowledge retrieval features—they can browse the internet and search and process Youtube videos, pdfs, social media accounts, and more!

I was the design lead for Atris and worked with engineering to craft a delightful chatbot community experience.

The Atris home page showcases popular chatbots and includes a CTA for users to create their own!

Users can insert sources from a URL, PDF, or social media account and train a custom model to answer questions based on its sources.

I also designed and came up with concepts for a mobile app version of Atris. Here we have an a sign in screen as well as the Chat UI for a specialized Study AI Chatbot.

Marketing and Event Planning

In addition to my role as design lead, I organized the first Atris hackathon with over 50 attendees at the Barclays Fintech Incubator, Rise.

The goal of the hackathon was to introduce beginners to web development and our developer SDK. By the end of the hackathon, we had over a dozen teams submit technical and non-technical projects and gave out over $1,000 in prizes from Atris as well as our other sponsors.
